Robyn Shumer's Pledge Page In Honor and Rememberance of my Fabulous Dad, Floyd Shumer

Have a nice memory to share about my dad? Want to inspire me? Please sign my guest book:)

Dear Friends and Family,

In honor and remembrance of my father Floyd Shumer, who lost his battle with leukemia on January 14, 2004, I will be running in the “Rock and Roll Half Marathon” in Virginia Beach on September, 5, 2004. I have joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training program. My dad was 61 when he lost his brief three-and-a-half month battle with leukemia. He was known to many as a good many with a dry sense of humor. I know there are many of us who have lost a loved one to, or have been touched by cancer.

This will be a tough race for me to run, but no matter what, my father will provide the inspiration I need to cross the finish line. It will be with tremendous pride that I train, raise money and run the race in memory of my fabulous dad and anyone else who has been affected by leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related cancers.

Team in Training is the world’s largest, private organization dedicated exclusively to finding cures and to improving the quality of life of patients and their families. They coach, train, and encourage participants to meet their goals. My goal is to raise $4,025.00 by August 1, 2004 to support their efforts. 75% of the money raised goes directly to the Society for patient services, research and education. In order to meet this goal, I will need 115 people to pledge $35 each… but any amount is appreciated!

You will become a member of my team by supporting my fundraising efforts. You can make checks out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and remember to write my name with “Rock and Roll Half Marathon” so my fundraising goal can be tracked. If you know of someone battling a blood cancer or who has lost their life to blood cancer, let me know so I can run for them too. I will write their name on my shirt for marathon day. When I find the race getting tough, I will look at their names to press on.

Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and support. Donations can be mailed to me at: 106 Lawrence Avenue Highland Park, NJ 08904.

Peace to you,
Robyn Shumer
